The Lady & Her Pen Turns 1!

Happy Birthday The Lady & Her Pen!

A year ago today I started this blog and my how fast 1 year has snuck up on me!

Hm..I'd like to say thank you to anyone who has read this site for even a day or a post. I hope you got even the slightest bit of joy out of it. It has been a wonderful escape for me to come to, and I have thoroughly enjoyed coming here to post my thoughts, decor, fashion, and encouraging words of faith here and there.  I've met some amazing writers along the way and having this little haven here has been at times my saving grace of the day.  It has taught me to find a piece of good in every day,  to believe in the good of people even when they show you their dark sides, and find small slices of heaven on earth.  It's taught me to relish in the joy of window shopping as much of what I post on here I do not purchase, and helped me cultivate a better sense of self.  It's helped me heal and grow over this past year, and I thank you for giving me the sounding board to do it.

much love always,

The Lady & Her Pen is currently coveting this Jason Mraz tune, that she unexpectedly stumbled upon. {Love when that happens!}

Has Anyone Told You?

This is one of my favorite reads. I have seen it on youtube and other websites. If you know who wrote it please let me know so I can give them credit. It holds a special place in my heart. I hope it speaks to you.

Has anyone told you today that you are loved?
Has anyone made you feel appreciated and let you know how special you are?
Has anyone assured you that you are exactly who you need to be
And that in simply doing what you love to do you are doing enough?
Has anyone reminded you that you didn’t come here to prove anything?
You just came to be you. just you. Because being you is enough
You are one of a kind. A true original. A masterpiece of incomparable value.
And without you the world would be incomplete.
Like a puzzle piece missing a crucial piece
And you are the only being in the universe who can fill that final space
Has anyone told you that the regrets of yesterday belong to yesterday?
And that right now in this one profound moment in time
You are perfect. As perfect as you were created to be

Has anyone taken the time to let you know that you are infinitely smarter that you give yourself credit for being? And a thousand times more capable of achieving your dreams than you believe yourself to be?

Has anyone told you that you should never, ever doubt your own worth?
Because even in those moments when you feel it the least,  you are still wonderfully made.

And there is within every single cell of your being
Enough power to light the world
God placed it there - and every loving thought you think radiates forward
brightening the world and mankind

That’s how powerful you are
That’s how loving you are

Has anyone told you that you are truly loved?
If not then won’t you let me please be the one?

Speaks for itself

*Today's post is inspired by a friend's struggle. And my own. Love ya sista.

Am I enough? Am I doing enough?

I mean, really, if I got to the end of my life and looked all around, would I nod and be happy with what I had been given and how I had used what God had given me to make the world a better place? It's such a balance. Get enough sleep. Get enough exercise. Take enough medication. Call enough. Work hard enough. Love enough. Don't indulge too much. Relax enough.  I have had enough.

You are enough.  Were you ever told as a child or as an adult that you weren't enough? That you weren't worth it?  You can't go back, but I can assure you that you are worth it. That you are enough. This life was not meant to be lived feeling less adequate and you have nothing to prove. You are perfect in the image you were created.
"Our deepest fear is not that we are inadequate.  Our deepest fear is that we are powerful beyond measure.  It is our light, not our darkness that most frightens us.  We ask ourselves, Who am I to be brilliant, gorgeous, talented, fabulous? Actually, who are you not to be?  You are a child of God.  Your playing small does not serve the world.  There is nothing enlightened about shrinking so that other people won't feel insecure around you.  We are all meant to shine, as children do.  We were born to make manifest the glory of God that is within us.  It's not just in some of us; it's in everyone.  And as we let our own light shine, we unconsciously give other people permission to do the same.  As we are liberated from our own fear, our presence automatically liberates others." ~ Marianne Williamson

Friday Inspiration

You are on time. You are right where you need to be. Quit blaming yourself about being late. Stop beating yourself up because you missed the “boat”. Stop comparing the path you are on to the paths of others. As a unique human being, you are on a unique journey. You perceive the world in a way all your own. Your feelings and the way in which you are affected by others is distinct to you, and you alone. You have a unique set of talents and strengths, struggles and weaknesses. And thus, you cannot compare where you are in life to where others stand. Life isn’t a race. You will get where you need to go eventually, when the time is right. Trust that you are where you need to be. Trust the rhythm of the universe. Trust yourself.

A Fresh Batch of Love

A fresh batch of love, coming your way:

Today's post is courtesy from - one of my favorite devotional websites. The below was "Today's Gift" - daily inspirational emails from a variety of books.  This excerpt is from "God Grant Me..." It is beautifully coincidental that I was just referring to the serenity prayer yesterday and here I am posting about it today.
Love doesn't just sit there like a stone: it has to be made, like bread, remade all the time, made new.   --Ursula K. Le Guin
"Everyone could use a new batch of love every day. Way too often, we forget to make a new batch. Then we end up eating hard, old, crumbly stuff that doesn't even taste good. We forget to talk with the people we love. We tell ourselves that they should "know" we love them, even if we haven't called to connect with them for a long time. So we expect them to live off hard, old, dry crumbs too!
But baking a fresh batch of love is a lot easier than baking bread. All we have to do is make a phone call, write a letter or an email, or stop by our mom's house. We need to deliver the message that the people we love are important. What could be easier or more rewarding?"
