Do All Things in Love

As this Christmas season comes to a close, as the another year winds down, I think about the year I have spent and what I have done. What I have sewn, harvested, grown, gathered. Friends, family, times in peace, and times of chaos, times of silence, and times I wish I could have another few moments of sleep. It's a time of reflection, both happy and sad, but nonetheless, you can't help but look back on the year and kiss it goodbye, and embrace another one hello. Several quotes that have great meaning to me right now are below.  Most of these are from Corrie Ten Boom, author of The Hiding Place. The Ten Boom family dedicated their lives to helping Jews in the Holocaust and their story is remarkable. Corrie's story is told in her book "The Hiding Place" which I cannot wait to pick up. Many of these quotes are from this book. Read more about what this amazing family did for history here.  Her story makes me question my life, my purpose, what I can do to help more. It's filled with sorrow but also with hope and beauty and brings tears to my eyes as she and her family loved the way we all should love one another.

A Grateful ♥

What if every day you wrote out 4-5 things you were grateful for?

It's something I'm trying, and while I won't be sharing my list daily because it's personal, I will say that doing this has been eye opening, and I defintely see a change in my daily routine...this really has helped me to have more of a grateful heart.  It has helped me to find more compassion in the little things that sometimes get in the way of life. When you catch yourself complaining, ask yourself if there is anything you could possibly be grateful for about this situation?

So for today, I am grateful for
1.  the stress of my job, as it means I am employed.
2.  the Christmas gift card from my boss to Nordstrom...he knows me too well already...
3.  the fact that we just might have a white christmas after all
4.  One of my coworkers, who sent me this adorable mug and she crocheted the cozy herself...along with some hot cocoa.  It brought tears to my eyes.

5.  and you, I am grateful for you.

Grab a pen and a notebook, or download the latest gratitue app...and just ask yourself....what are you grateful for today? Some days it's something quite meaningful. Other days it's difficult to come up with something so it's merely the ability to get up and be able to take deep breaths.

So again I ask you, what are you grateful for today?

A light of one small flame

"There is not enough darkness in all the world to put out the light of even one small candle”
~ Robert Alden

Even in the darkest of corners, the darkest of rooms, the darkest of skies, if you were to light the smallest of candles, it would light up the space around it. When you feel the world is dark and cold, light a candle, watch the flame flicker, and hold it in your heart, and burn it all the year through.
